Innovative hemp and cannabis corporation Marijuana Company of America Inc. (OTC: MCOA) this morning announced that it has filed an application with the OTC Markets Group to uplist to the OTCQB Venture Market. Additionally, the company intends to file a Form S-1 with the Securities and Exchange Commission in conjunction with an anticipated equity line of financing that will allow MCOA, once the S-1 is effective, to raise up to $10 million. Per the update, the company’s application to uplist to the OTCQB Venture Market is a condition for both the equity line of financing and the Form S-1 registration statement. “Our goal is to obtain the necessary capital through our S-1 to capitalize on the host of opportunities available in the cannabis and hemp industry right now,” Donald Steinberg, president and CEO of MCOA, stated in the news release. “Also, moving to a higher OTC Markets reporting tier will help to provide better access to institutional investors, broaden our shareholder base, and provide greater credibility with the Company’s partners, clients, stakeholders, and customers, as well as with the wider investment community.”

Virgin Galactic aims to reach space soon with tourism rocket

Dec 13, 2018

MOJAVE, Calif. — Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic is gearing up to finally send its tourism rocket ship to the edge of space. If successful, it would be a major step toward the long-delayed dream of commercial space tourism. The next test flight could come as early as Thursday with two pilots taking Virgin Space Ship Unity high above California's Mojave Desert. CEO George Whitesides said Wednesday they will try to exceed an altitude of 50 miles (80.4 kilometers), which Virgin Galactic considers the boundary of space. Whiteside said that's the standard used by the U.S. Air Force and other U.S....

The Latest: Virgin Galactic sending rocket to edge of space

Dec 13, 2018

MOJAVE, Calif. — The Latest on scheduled test flight of a Virgin Galactic rocket ship (all times local): 4:45 p.m. Virgin Galactic plans to fly a rocket ship Thursday to the edge of space. The company says two test pilots will fly the craft early Thursday above the Mojave Desert at an altitude of more than 50 miles (80.4 kilometers), which it regards as the boundary of space. CEO George Whitesides says that's the standard used by the Air Force and other U.S. agencies. That differs from a long-held view that places the boundary at 62 miles (99.8 kilometers.) But...

Weather agency chief: I've never briefed Trump on warming

Dec 13, 2018

WASHINGTON — The head of the government agency that monitors climate change says that in nearly two years he has never discussed the issue with President Donald Trump. Acting National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration chief Adm. Timothy Gallaudet said in a press conference at a scientific meeting this week, "I personally have not briefed the president on climate change." Gallaudet said he doesn't know if others had briefed the president. He did note that he was in the room when Trump signed a bill aimed at keeping plastic trash out of the ocean. By contrast, Oregon State University marine ecologist...

Washington state builds bridge to keep wildlife off highway

Dec 13, 2018

SNOQUALMIE PASS, Wash. — Before descending the Cascade Mountains on its final stretch to Seattle, Interstate 90 cuts through a mountain pass of old growth forests and wetlands. For countless wildlife species, the busy highway is a border, constraining their movements and posing a fatal risk should they dare to cross it. "Everything from an elk down to a small salamander, they need to move to find food, to find mates, to find new places to live as their populations expand or just when conditions change, like a fire breaks out," said Jen Watkins of Conservation Northwest. Soon, animals will...

States cite climate worries in push to stop US coal sales

Dec 13, 2018

BILLINGS, Mont. — Four states that say burning coal will hurt their residents as it makes climate change worse are trying to stop the Trump administration from selling vast reserves of the fuel that are beneath public lands. Attorneys for California, New Mexico, New York and Washington argue the coal sales have been shortchanging taxpayers because of low royalty rates and cause pollution that puts the climate and public health at risk. The states were joined by conservation groups and Montana's Northern Cheyenne tribe in a lawsuit that seeks to revive a coal leasing moratorium imposed under President Barack Obama....
