NetworkNewsBreaks – Marijuana Company of America Inc. (MCOA) Files Application to Uplist to OTCQB Venture Market

Innovative hemp and cannabis corporation Marijuana Company of America Inc. (OTC: MCOA) this morning announced that it has filed an application with the OTC Markets Group to uplist to the OTCQB Venture Market. Additionally, the company intends to file a Form S-1 with the Securities and Exchange Commission in conjunction with an anticipated equity line of financing that will allow MCOA, once the S-1 is effective, to raise up to $10 million. Per the update, the company’s application to uplist to the OTCQB Venture Market is a condition for both the equity line of financing and the Form S-1 registration statement. “Our goal is to obtain the necessary capital through our S-1 to capitalize on the host of opportunities available in the cannabis and hemp industry right now,” Donald Steinberg, president and CEO of MCOA, stated in the news release. “Also, moving to a higher OTC Markets reporting tier will help to provide better access to institutional investors, broaden our shareholder base, and provide greater credibility with the Company’s partners, clients, stakeholders, and customers, as well as with the wider investment community.”

Swedish teen leads Belgian students on 7th climate march

Feb 21, 2019

BRUSSELS — Swedish teenager Greta Thunberg is joining Belgian students who are skipping classes for the seventh Thursday in a row to march through Brussels to draw more attention to fighting climate change. The 16-year-old Thunberg first addressed a European Union conference, chiding adults for their inaction in the face of such climatic global dangers. She said youngsters are being forced to skip school and protest because adults are not addressing climate issues quickly enough. She told the European Economic and Social Committee plenary session that "we are school striking because we have done our homework" on the dangers facing...

Japanese spacecraft to attempt landing on distant asteroid

Feb 21, 2019

TOKYO — A Japanese spacecraft began its approach Thursday toward a distant asteroid on a mission to collect material that could provide clues to the origin of the solar system and life on Earth. Hayabusa2's descent was delayed for about five hours for a safety check, but the unmanned craft is still due to touch down as scheduled on Friday morning, the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency said. During the touchdown, which will last just seconds, Hayabusa2 will extend a pipe and shoot a pinball-like bullet into the asteroid to blow up material from beneath the surface. If all goes successfully,...

Climate threat doubter is leading effort to advise Trump

Feb 21, 2019

WASHINGTON — The Trump administration is exploring the idea of forming a special committee to look at climate change and security risks, with the effort being coordinated by a 79-year-old physicist who rejects mainstream climate science. A "discussion paper" obtained by The Associated Press asks federal officials from an array of government agencies to weigh in on a proposed executive order that President Donald Trump would sign establishing the "Presidential Committee on Climate Security." A memo to those federal officials asks them to direct any questions to William Happer, a member of Trump's National Security Council and a well-known critic...

50M gallons of polluted water pours daily from US mine sites

Feb 21, 2019

RIMINI, Mont. — Every day many millions of gallons of water loaded with arsenic, lead and other toxic metals flow from some of the most contaminated mining sites in the U.S. and into surrounding streams and ponds without being treated, The Associated Press has found. That torrent is poisoning aquatic life and tainting water supplies in Montana, California, Colorado, Oklahoma and at least five other states. The pollution is a legacy of how the mining industry was allowed to operate in the U.S. for more than a century. Companies that built mines for silver, lead, gold and other "hardrock" minerals...

Neptune's newest, tiniest moon likely piece of bigger one

Feb 21, 2019

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — Neptune's newest and tiniest moon is probably an ancient piece of a much larger moon orbiting unusually close. In the journal Nature on Wednesday, California astronomers shine a light on the 21-mile-diameter (34-kilometer-diameter) moon Hippocamp, named after the mythological sea horse. The SETI Institute's Mark Showalter discovered Neptune's 14th moon in 2013, using Hubble Space Telescope images. Showalter and his research team theorize Hippocamp was formed from debris created billions of years ago when a comet slammed into Proteus, the largest of Neptune's inner moons. The two moons orbit just 7,500 miles (12,000 kilometers) apart and...
